Solid timber stairs: load calculation, joints and acoustic comfort

A solid timber stair is a load-bearing structure under dynamic forces. In premium projects it is designed with floor and balustrades from single batch, with stiffness and acoustic comfort calculated.

Design and survey

3D model of the flight, tread rise and going and balustrade heights checked to codes and ergonomics. Site humidity and building settlement are considered.

Species and finish from the interior batch. The stair is not ordered “separately later”.

Production and joints

Stringers, treads and cladding made with wood moisture control. Concealed fixings, dampers at supports — against squeaks.

Handrails and balusters in the same aesthetic as doors and panels.

Installation and handover

Installation with support, anchor and load transfer checks. After fitting — play, even tread rhythm, balustrade stiffness.

Care schedule for oil/lacquer in high-traffic zones is provided.
